There are some things that we don’t think of when wanting to be prepared. However, as we mentioned before, radiation is a problem that is apt to occur in an emergency situation if any warfare takes place.

There is a book that is shown to the left that will be handy to have on hand NOW. Learn what foods that may shield you from harmful radiation.

Don’t forget to have a stash of Nascent Iodine in your larder.

There is another book that we highly recommend to have on hand, and that is, Back to Eden, by Jethro Kloss. It has been our Go-To book for information on what herbs and natural remedies to use for so many problems for nearly 50 years, and it is great to have on hand for an emergency.

You know how inconvenient it is when there is a storm and your electricity goes out for a few hours and there are no lights. What if that power outage would go on for several days? Well, you either have to have enough candles on hand, or have some other means of reliable light sources. What can you do? There are several light source you may want to consider. many of them are solar powered. The sun can be your best friend in such an emergency.

You will, also, need a simple way to power your phone and laptop. The light sources are great for camping or just to have in your car when charged in case on auto emergency.

Rumors of War

Wow! Things are really shaking up around the world. What will come of it? We don’t know. It may all pass: However, do be prepared for anything.

I am sharing the video below, even though it may a bit controversial to some, because it gives a chart that shows the radius of the effects of just one attack by China or Korea on our country, how far the effects would reach, and what would be affected. It is most interesting just for that. It is amazing how far the reach would probably be.

We can’t remain lackadaisical regarding this or burying our head in the sand. You can go to this link that is mentioned in the video if you live near a military base or large city that could be targeted to see how far the reach of damage would be for your particular area.

Our pets are precious to us. They are like family. They need to be taken care of in an emergency, too. So be prepared to supply them with water and food, also.

There are some links below that you can check out for short-term storage food for pets. There are awesome recipes for cats and dogs. Just click the blue links to peruse them. When made, place them in seal tight, vacuum bags. This kitchen tool is so necessary for yourself and your pet’s food. Or, buy dog food and place them in seal tight vacuum bags. The pressure cooker is great for you to have on hand for your own food sources such as to cook beans, soup, rice, whole grain cereals like millet or wheat, etc. You can place the cooker on a grate in a fireplace or on a fire pit. Who Knows What You Are Doing Even in Your Home?

I posted on security recently. Security, also, involves smart thermostats, refrigerators, cars, as well as, your computer, phone, and more. This video is most interesting. Nearly everything you do is tracked now or will be in the future through smart devices.

The video explains the process in simple terms including RFID credit cards which you may now have in your own wallet or purse. RFID cards has a chip in it which increases the dynamic of the information it can collect. Someone with a very simple device accessible online for around $200 can get more information from the card about you if they steal it.

Is it good or invasive? You determine that after watching the video.

If a thermostat can be turned off or turned down from outside sources, a solar generator makes good sense to have on hand even when there is not an imminent natural disaster. There was an interesting article about how you can be spied upon from your devices. Here is an excerpt from Wired.com:
How to Keep the NSA From Spying Through Your Webcam

“Sadly, covering your camera still won’t prevent spies, intruders and even web sites and phone apps from surreptitiously turning on the internal microphone on your computer or mobile phone, computer, or VoIP phone and listening in on conversations.

Muting the mic won’t work, since it’s possible for an intruder to unmute it. Your best defense is probably to insert a dummy plug into the microphone jack to prevent sound from being picked up by the internal mic. You can create a dummy plug by simply cutting off the unneeded portion of an old microphone plug. This won’t prevent someone from listening to your conversations when you need the mic, such as when using Skype, but it will at least thwart them from using the microphone on their own without you knowing.”

We are all tied to our devices and the newest technology and their convenience in our lives. HOWEVER, be wise. Take precautions now that you know how vulnerable you are to outside ears, so-to-speak.

Do you have a a smart refrigerator, smart thermostat, some commonly purchased big screen TVs, etc.? The device may be listening to your conversations or you could be hacked, spied upon, or have your internet or electric come down without warning.

We haven’t had a major cyber attack. However we could, and it could put everyone at risk. It is a very real possibility that we all have to be aware of it now in order to prepare.

There is a gentleman who was interviewed by Larry King. As is brought up in the conversation, we are clueless as to cyber technology and what the capabilities are. One comment, ” If you want to have a private conversation, don’t have it front of your TV.” Wow! They actually do mention a brand name on the video.

The interview is of John McAfee, the tech expert and creator of the McAfee anti-virus program of which we are all familiar. Yes, he is considered by many to be an eccentric and controversial if you watched Dateline. However, he has incredible expertise over many years that gives a candid, unique perspective in the video below of what we are facing now and could face in the future.
